Have you ever walked a labyrinth? It's very meditative. This is a labyrinth you walk with your eyes, perhaps while you're waiting for something to cook on the stove. I painted it while in Mexico and went to an outdoor market for the chilis. I think the vendor thought I was crazy for examining all the the chilis one by one, but I wanted a good variety of shapes and colors. I didn't have the language to explain I was using them as models.
I love pattern and color, and it's really all I want to use to create -- gone are my days of landscapes and portraits. But people often look at my art and comment, "this would make a really good bedspread / greeting card / totebag." And those comments discouraged me. I didn't have a clue how to make those things and just imagined it would be really hard and take me away from what I love: creating. So finding Fine Art America and Pixels is exciting because secretly I agreed with those comments. A lot of my art would make really good greeting cards, shower curtains, or totebags. I hope that you'll see the same potential. (It's also good as art.) Thanks!
