This is part of a series of 20 paintings I made at the beginning of the pandemic. I called in my Corona series and almost all of the paintings have circles. This is probably my favorite one. My good friend had just died. She was elderly, but young at heart, a great artist, and always supportive of my art. After she passed and I worked on this painting, I kept hearing the phrase, "Shout Hallelujah, Come On, Get Happy..." as though Lucille was telling me, "I'm okay with dying, it was my time, get over it."
I love pattern and color, and it's really all I want to use to create -- gone are my days of landscapes and portraits. But people often look at my art and comment, "this would make a really good bedspread / greeting card / totebag." And those comments discouraged me. I didn't have a clue how to make those things and just imagined it would be really hard and take me away from what I love: creating. So finding Fine Art America and Pixels is exciting because secretly I agreed with those comments. A lot of my art would make really good greeting cards, shower curtains, or totebags. I hope that you'll see the same potential. (It's also good as art.) Thanks!
