Made this painting as autumn leaves were falling outside and I couldn't understand why I was painting with these colors until a friend wrote that it reminded her of ski season. Then it struck me that fall does have an overtone of winter, certainly in New Hampshire where piles of wood are everywhere waiting to be moved inside and plowing ads are posted on our general store window. So I've named it Sugarloaf -- the ski area mentioned by my friend and a word I've always liked.
I love pattern and color, and it's really all I want to use to create -- gone are my days of landscapes and portraits. But people often look at my art and comment, "this would make a really good bedspread / greeting card / totebag." And those comments discouraged me. I didn't have a clue how to make those things and just imagined it would be really hard and take me away from what I love: creating. So finding Fine Art America and Pixels is exciting because secretly I agreed with those comments. A lot of my art would make really good greeting cards, shower curtains, or totebags. I hope that you'll see the same potential. (It's also good as art.) Thanks!
